Business Development Manager
accelerating innovation together with international top clients

In this position
you are responsible for new business (contract research and consultancy) in your market sectors dairy and food & beverage. You acquire prospects based on market insights, knowledge and your network. You manage all the aspects of the sales process: generate leads, visiting prospects globally, writing project briefs, pricing, negotiation till closing the deal. You build a firm and successful relationship with prospects and you actively work together with NIZO experts and project leaders. Together with marketing and the sales team you define and execute the strategy of the NIZO market team. Once you sold the project the internal organization will perform and you monitor the progress and client relationship. You will be reporting to the Commercial Director.

NIZO is looking for an eager sales person who is able to grasp a concept quickly and translate this into value for the customer. Someone who is deal driven, creative in spotting R&D business opportunities and has extremely good contact skills. Your profile:
  • Master’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry or other relevant study.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a commercial role in the industry, e.g. B2B food, ingredients, pharma, chemical or processing industry.
  • Knowledge, experience and/or a network in dairy and/or food & beverage is a big plus.
  • Capable of initiating and managing processes and projects at the interface between customers and the internal organization.
  • Excellent negotiating skills and entrepreneurial drive.
  • Good command of the English language, written and spoken. Proficiency in the Dutch language is a plus.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel 30-40%.
